Lessons to learn from Blackjack

Reading the internet, I've spent the past week and change thinking about what my first real post should be …then i considered and thought some more…All the while the countless hours that I've spent with mortal combat x/mortal combat 10, never drifted far from my mind. I wondered to myself…should i do a review, should i just post suggestions on what they could do better, or should i give my thoughts on the new playable characters.  I dismissed that last suggestion in a hurry because i knew where it would lead…to a confession of the fact of the fact that i think Faratour is awesome.  Something better left unsaid in most MK circles I'm sure.  Whoops,,,i just said it…too bad.  Anyway, at some point the trophy list came to mind…that god awful trophy list.  I mean i understand why you would get a trophy for successfully leveling up your faction rating to 50 for the first time.  but do we really need a trophy for designing a combat card?  Entering practice mode??  Or showing respect after a fight that you had nothing to do with??  I for one don't think so…with that in mind i asked myself what are these"accolades" there for…the answer in my humble opinion is to keep us playing.  And hopefully from the developers perspective, parting with our money.  Lest you think I'm putting two and two together and getting 5…ill remind you that as time passes nether realms ads news skins for your characters, offers easy fatalities at the price of 5 for a dollar.  It sounds cheap at first but trust me, it doesn't stagy that way for long.  My favorite of these charitable offers though, is the fact that they are willing to let you buy access to all the music, concept and hidden moves that had been concealed in the crypt.  of course this could be done for a nominal fee.  This lead me to wonder…how can i keep myself from the lore of micro transaction in the future….what i decided is that i needed to apply a lesson that i learned at the blackjack table.  In order to avoid loosing your shirt, set yourself a win condition and a loss condition.  of course since the only way to loose money during micro transaction is to send it…only the first piece of advice is relevant here.  so with that in mind, i took a look at the trophy list…hoping to set my self a goal…a win condition if you like.  what i decided was, as soon as i get all three factions to level 50, and fining the story tower for the DLC characters i already purchased, I'm DONE. ANd i doesn't matter if neither realm puts baracha, reign and sendel up for sale as playable characters a microsecond after….Im going to remind you again of the sheer amount of the stupidity i had to read throughout before finding that goal for myself…  There is actually a trophy unlocked by playing 100 complete matches.  Note that i did not say winning 100 matches….i said playing 1000 matches.  So they are not rewards for accomplishment ts here…they are encouraging you to put more time, effort and hopefully money into a product that you've already paid 60 dollars for….something i find propastrus….gamer or not.  I was going to end this post here but theres another question that this locomotive of thought brings to mind…and that is,..why don't we get anything for these trophies.  That question might not make sense at first but hear me out for a second….when you unlock about 10 bronze trophies for any combination of games, 5 silver or say 2 gold, you should get credit towards your next purchase.  this would be a call back to the way pinball games used to reward players with high scores by giving them free games back in the 80 and 90s.  xbox live used to employ a similar system and i have no idea what happened to it….scratch that…i have every idea what happened to it..  Game developers realized that hey could get the same degree of financial commitment without rewarding loyalty on that scale.  suffice it to say, i think that we and their players/customers should demand that these companies earn our money before they claim it.
so what do you guy think?? am i paranoid?? on Point?? or some combination of the two?
I hope to hear your thoughts soon….thanks for reading..

Who Am I?

No, ladies and gentleman of the internet your eyes do not deceive you, I am indeed another Gamer trying to start a blog.  This fact surely begs the question....What makes me different from all the other glillions of gamers trying to get noticed?  The answer lies largely in the advantages and disadvantages I face as a gamer.  Both of these stem from my diagnosis....yes...everyone has one.  Since birth, I have had to contend with Cerebral Palsy.  This can be a blessing and a curse...we may get to more on that later.  For now its important to keep in mind that this effects my perception of everything from game mechanics and menu presentation, to narrative and art design.
Yes, I know that menu and art design can be one in the same but my own personal opinion is that they are not always so....possibly we will be covering that In later detail as well.
For those of you who are worried that this page will turn into a giant soap box with disability front and center...you need not worry.  Here I am first and foremost a Gamer who intends to talk about everything from the future of episodic gaming to how the monetization of you tube needs to change.  Some basic facts before I roll....
I was born a Nintendo Kid.  My parents had an Atari 2600...by the time I was aware of it that dinosaur was already headed skyward...
I'm a sucker for narrative adventure games...if your looking for particular examples I would direct you to anything tell tale has made this century.
I also do like some old school point and clicks like mist but there are versions since can sometimes make them hard to live with.
So I guess that's enough for now...for the those who got through this introduction to me, thank you for reading and we will talk again soon!
